For the next two weeks our virtual learning opportunities and resources will be centered around a student research project magazine including writing in the different text structures and inserting text features to complete their project. All resources are in Files and Documents. Additional Zoom meetings will be held and can be found on our ClassDojo events for students to pop in and receive additional help as they work on their projects. The additional meetings will be as follows:
Wednesday, May 20th- 11:30am-1:30pm
Friday, May 22- 11:30am-1:30pm
Wednesday, May 27th- 11:30am- 1:30pm
Friday, May 29th-11:30am - 1:30pm
These are optional meetings to join to get help and guidance from Miss Britt in addition to our regularly scheduled meetings.

Beginning April 20, 2020, your student will need to use their user ID and password to access our class Choice Board in Files and Documents on the web page.We need to lock the Choice Board so that we do not violate any copyright laws with the materials we are using in our lessons. Dear Families,
Our fifth grade team has been working really hard to get our virtual classroom up and ready for you all. As of this afternoon, the Henderson staff has agreed on the following plan for learning until the end of the school year. In order to prevent schedule conflicts for families with multiple students at Henderson, the administrative team has created each grade levels' schedule to ensure designated time access for learning. If you are unable to access the learning at the designated time, it will be posted to our class page under files and documents so that you can access it at your convenience.
Our schedule is:
MONDAY: Language Arts @ 11 am
TUESDAY: Math @ 11 am
WEDNESDAY: Science @ 11am , Art or STEM @ 11:30
THURSDAY: Social Studies @ 11 am, PE or Music @ 11:30
FRIDAY: Library or Guidance Counselor @ 11 am
The Encore rotation is on the schedule so the Encore Team can meet expectations set by the VDOE and Dr. Walts. Please know you can participate in the Encore activities any time during the week that works for your family.
Each teacher has been designated office hours each week for questions and help. My office hours are Wednesday from 9am-10am. You can contact me via Classdojo or email during that time and I will be available for an immediate response. The Office Hours are an opportunity for you to reach out to me about concerns with the activities in the choice board. If your child isn't able to participate in our class meetings, they can still enjoy the learning activities available on our class web page whenever it works in your schedule. If you contact me outside of the office hours, please allow me 24 hours to respond.
We will continue to have our class meetings to check in every Wednesday at 10:00 am. In addition, I will continue to post our class read aloud every day and our art journal prompts will be posted Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
This week's virtual learning opportunities will be posted and available to view and use by 8 am Tuesday morning. However, starting next week and on until the end of the year, we will be posting our learning opportunity information every Friday by 3pm on our class webpage. All activities posted continue to be review and optional. All learning materials will only be posted to our class webpage as a central location to access all materials needed. Our math and reading live Zoom mini lessons will start next week at 11 am on the scheduled days. All Zoom meeting information will be sent via ClassDojo.
