Camp Invention

This year Henderson's Camp is being housed at Fitzgerald Elementary School. The code for our camp is C-VA56-15145-15. Many Henderson families have signed up for the camp at Ashland Elementary School. While the camps are taking place during the same week the camp at Ashland is not affiliated with Henderson Elementary School. We are holding camp at Fitzgerald due to our school renovation.

I have received a lot of e-mail from parents who have signed up for the Ashland camp thinking that was the Henderson Camp. Only the camp at Fitzgerald is sponsored by Henderson.

I have also received a lot of e-mail about promotion codes. Sadly there were only a few promotion spots available and they disappeared immediately. Sorry for any confusion.

I went to Fitzgerald the other day to do an inventory of our supplies and the modules this summer look like a lot of fun!!!

So come and join us at Camp Invention at Fitzgerald Elementary School. This is my third summer working for Camp Invention! I am thrilled to have an outstanding staff and nine amazing high school students helping out!

Camp Invention is open to  children entering grades one through six. It's an exciting, week long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek innovative solutions to real-world problems, Campers will develop critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. Camp runs from August 3-7. The hours of camp are 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m

Information about modules-

In the KartWheel™ module, children let their engineering skills glide them across the finish line as they build, enhance and upgrade their very own freestyle racing cart.

Boys and girls will explore what it means to prototype a product from scratch as they become an entrepreneur during the Design Studio: Illuminate™ module.

In the I Can Invent: Next Level Gamers™ module, participants will take apart broken or unused appliances using real tools to create a physical video game model in the 3rd dimension!

Finally, in the Inducted™ module, personalized video challenges from National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees are introduced along with hands-on activities like constructing super-structure mega-towers, assembling out-of-this-world space rockets and so much more!

Ms.Jones, Mrs. McAuley, Mrs. Baum and Mrs. Trost will instruct the program modules and enthusiastic high school students will serve as Leadership Interns ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children.

Every registration includes a complimentary Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so visit  www.campinvention.org or call 800.968.4332 to secure your child’s spot today! Contact Director-Sarah Willey with questions-willeysl@pwcs.edu
